Communication Process or Communication Cycle

Communication process or Communication cycle is the process by which a message is sent by an individual and it passes through a chain of recipients. This chain includes the following:-

  1. Sender
  2. Message
  3. Encoding
  4. Communication Channel
  5. Receiver
  6. Decoding
  7. Feedback

1. Sender

Sender is the person or entity originating the communication. The sender or communicator creates the message and initiates the communication.

2. Message

Message is the information,ideas, views, facts, feelings etc. that the sender wishes to convey.

3. Encoding

Encoding is the process of how the sender chooses to bring the message into an appropriate form for sending. This process may includes symbols, pictures, words, gestures etc and all these may be used to translate the information into a message.

4. Communication Channel

Communication Channel is the medium by which the message is transmitted towards receiver.

5. Receiver

Receiver is the person or entity to whom the message is sent.

6. Decoding

Decoding is the process of how the receiver interpreting and understanding the meaning of the message received.

7. Feedback

Feedback is the response sent by the receiver to the sender. It ensures that the message is received by receiver.
